That's right, a strong majority support the new law, despite the best efforts at CBS News to give the impression that their poll found only a "slim majority of Americans" -- 51% -- who say the new law is the right approach for Arizona to take.
This must be a big disappointment for the liberals at CBS News, who quickly pointed out in their article that critics believe the law will bring on racial profiling. Only after all that do we discover, buried after the "racial profiling" comment, that another nine percent say the law doesn't go far enough.
Let's see, that's a total of 60% of Americans who support a strengthening of enforcement, while only 36% disapprove. That is strong support, not "slim" support. Here is that article from the ultra-liberal CBS News:
Despite their expectation that it will burden police departments and disproportionately affect certain ethnic groups, a slim majority of Americans believe the controversial illegal immigration measure recently signed into law in Arizona is "about right" in its approach, according to a newly-released CBS News/New York Times poll.
Fifty-one percent of those surveyed say the law, which critics say essentially mandates racial profiling, takes the right approach, and nine percent say it should go even further.
Thirty-six percent say the law goes too far.
