Independent voters are abandoning Democrats

All the trends continue to look good for a conservative victory in the 2010 midterm elections. In primaries held in three states, Democratic turnout was down while Republican turnout was up. The Democrats have watched all the enthusiasm that elected President Obama disappear. Also, independents continue to turn away from Democrats, as reported by US News & World Report:

By a margin of better than 2 to 1, self-identified independents agreed that an increase in the number of Republicans in Congress is necessary in order to bring about “a check and balance on runaway Washington government.” Independents also agreed that the country is on “the wrong track” by a 65 to 25 percent margin.
