President Obama leaves White House without press corps

The White House press corps goes everywhere with the President when he leaves the White House, inside this country and out. But aparently most of the White House press corps thinks its no big deal that the President left them behind in this instance. Just imagine the reaction if George W. Bush had pulled this stunt. The Associated Press seems to be the only media outlet reporting this, and New York Magazine is actually mocking Associated Press for going so far as to report it:

President Obama pulled a fast one on the White House press corps this morning, leaving them behind while he went to one of his daughter's soccer games in northwest D.C. This might not sound like a big deal, but according to the AP, Obama "quietly breached years of protocol." Oh no.
