Some conservatives think Sarah Palin endorsed the wrong candidate on her Facebook page. California Assemblyman Chuck DeVore is considered to be the true conservative candidate by many conservatives, including many Tea Party members. If Fiorina and DeVore split the conservative vote in the primary, the more moderate Tom Campbell might wind up with the nomination to run against incumbent Senator Barbara Boxer.
All three Republican candidates appeared together in a debate that will be televised Sunday, according to the San Jose Mercury News:
Former Congressman Tom Campbell, former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Assemblyman Chuck DeVore each made appeals to conservative voters Thursday in the taped debate that will be televised Sunday.
They all signaled support for Arizona's new illegal immigration law and opposition to Washington's health care overhaul. They also frequently criticized Boxer.
Fiorina and DeVore disagreed with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision to withdraw his support for expanded oil drilling off the California coast, but Campbell said he opposed new offshore platforms.
