As we all knew it would, the Democrats' health care bill will cost more than original estimates. The Congressional Budget Office, whose job it is to estimate the costs of proposals such as the massive health care bill, goofed. They now say it will cost $115 billion more than their original estimates, pushing the total cost during the next ten years over the $1 trillion originally estimated.
House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) issued a statement on his official house.gov website. Here is part of that statement:
"This new CBO analysis showing that the new health care law will cost at least $115 billion more than advertised provides ample cause for alarm. This comes just weeks after the Obama administration itself released an analysis confirming that the new law actually increases Americans’ health care costs.
“The American people wanted one thing above all from health care reform: lower costs, which Washington Democrats promised, but they did not deliver. These revelations widen the serious credibility gap President Obama is facing."
