Senator Lindsey Graham has been working with the Obama administration to find a way to close the Guantanamo detention facility. Here is his latest offer, via the Boston Globe:
Sen. Lindsey Graham says that if the president agrees to try alleged Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four accused henchmen in military tribunals, he will press fellow Republicans to vote to close the Guantanamo Bay prison.
Meanwhile, international critics and human rights groups, who are opposed to the Guantanamo facility, would be no more happy with a proposed detention facility on U.S. soil. In any case, let's hope the Obama administration does the right thing and abandons the idea of civilian trials for Khalid Sheik Mohammed and his four henchmen.
