Despite public opinion polls, Democrats won't give up

They are persistent!

From the New York Times:

Seeing no prospect of a bipartisan agreement on health care, Congressional Democrats said Friday that they would make another effort to pass sweeping health care legislation on their own.

Even with their majority, there don't seem to be enough Democratic votes to pass the bill on their own, so they'll use the Blair House summit to continue to portray the Republicans as the party of no. And, of course, most of the media will eagerly report it that way.
