The President and Democratic Congressional leaders are trying to push through their healthcare reform bill in advance of the President's scheduled healthcare summit with Republicans. Polls say a majority of Americans want Congress to start over on healthcare reform, as Republican leader John Boehner notes below.
From The Hill:
Keying off reports that President Barack Obama plans to present a unified Democratic healthcare plan prior to the Feb. 25 summit and reports that congressional Democrats aren't quite sure what will be in it, Boehner's office issued a statement to reporters Thursday once again calling on the White House and congressional Democrats to start from scratch on healthcare reform.
I wonder why the President would offer to hold a summit with Republicans if he's planning on ramming through his healthcare reform before the summit?
